What is the Rainmaker Platform?
Not too long ago, Copyblogger Media released a new platform called Rainmaker.
It’s a marketing and digital sales platform created to give you everything you need to build an audience for your business.
When you go to www.newrainmaker.com you will see a beautiful logo and great looking website, reviews from real people, and a cool video clip explaining what the Rainmaker platform is.
Once it was released I jumped on the bandwagon, and since Rainmaker was giving a 30 day free trial I had to try it.
What’s inside the platform?
If you’re familiar with WordPress you are in for a big surprise. The Rainmaker platform was created on WordPress, but it doesn’t look anything like WordPress. The interface is so beautiful, clean and easy to go through. It’s like using an application that was designed just for you.
Help. Knowledge Base.
Like with DVR’s in the past, to set the time you had to read the manual; likewise, in the Rainmaker platform, you probably should start with “Knowledge Base”. Everything you need to know you will find here. Quick Answers, different Topics and my favorite: Your Guides.
It explains step by step how to create a website, in detail with pictures. And I love instructions with pictures. If you’re not able to find what you’re looking for then I would suggest trying Get Support, which is a team of support staff ready to help you.
Inside Design you will find: Themes, Appearance, Style (Coming soon), Contact Area, Menus, Dynamic Sidebars, Responsive Sidebars, Custom CSS, Maintenance Mode, Social Sharing. And the fun part is, you can arrange them however you want.
In here you have 27 Child Themes, hand crafted by Studio Press.
Activate and Import Theme Demo Content and your website is ready to go. By doing so your website looks like the Theme demo from StudioPress. I was like “What!? It’s that easy!?”
It’s the same as a WordPress Customizer. It lets you choose Colors, Tagline, and Background Image, just to name a few.
This is a section in which you create menus that will display on your website. It looks very similar to what you would find in WordPress.
It’s basically a widget area. Here you set up different widgets for your website.
Here you can set up a slider for your website. If you have photos or products that you would like to display, you can do it here.
A perfect tool for the times when you’re making changes to your website or if you are working on it and you don’t what your clients to see what you’re doing.
Facebook, Twitter, Google+, to name a few. I don’t think I need to explain much about these. We all know them and use them.
For content you have 6 sections: Posts, Pages, Landing Pages, Portfolio, Podcasts, Media and Forum. For Content Organization there’re only two sections: Post Categories and Post Tags. And if you want to create Forms or Import/Export your content, there are Content tools too.
Posts and Pages:
These two sections look practically the same regarding what you would find in WordPress editor, except for better looking colors and typography. Not only does it look very good, it’s also preloaded with Scribe content optimization. Scribe is one of the best SEO services, and it’s built into the page editor so you can optimize your content correctly for readers and search engines.
Pre-designed templates let you create a unique Landing Page — it’s similar to choosing a theme in the Design section. It’s loaded with built in sections for headings, call to action, testimonials, social sharing and many more. You can also upload logo and background images.
Post Tags and Categories:
Tags and Categories can be created in this section; it’s very similar to the WordPress setup.
For now, this is all you need to know to create your first website on the Rainmaker platform. I’d prefer not to explain everything to you, as it’s best to take a crack at it yourself and make your own discoveries.
So grab a beer or a glass of wine, take the evening off and enjoy the ride. Have fun with the Rainmaker platform, and explore the possibilities.
Is it for Me?
As for me, I like it a lot. The main feature I like the most is that you don’t have to worry about any updates — you set up everything once and that’s it. The Rainmaker platform is a very good tool for anybody, such as a big or small business, blogger or whomever.
The main question is: Is it worth $95 a month or $950 a year? You need to answer this question for yourself. I personally will be using the Rainmaker platform for some of my projects , I may not convert my website to it just yet, but I will probably do so in the future.
